The winners and losers of ocean acidification

The population balance of some marine ‘pests' could be drastically changed as the world's oceans become increasingly acidic. The results of research, recently published, and co-authored by Earth Sciences' Elizabeth Harper, found that as acidity increased, organisms with shells saw their numbers reduced to just one-fifth of their current numbers, while those without shells doubled or even quadrupled in number.
